My March Madness

Hello Huckleberries! I thought I'd share a glimpse of my version of March madness.

I was asked to decorate the stage for Storyline's Easter series. No pressure! And of course, I had to come up with the brilliant idea of making an origami curtain consisting of 500 doves spread out among 20 foot long strands. Easy, right? Oh yeah, throw a curious cat in for good measure. Stay tuned for all the details next month!

This month I also:

enjoyed Spring Break with the kiddos at home . . . aka, enjoyed a week of not setting an alarm!

loved working beside my hubby! We both have remote jobs now and are livin' the dream, people . . . more on that in the near future.

learned a whole lot about horses and WordPress while designing and building out a new website for Creek Plantation's upcoming Horse Sale.

binged on Eric Church in preparation for joining some new friends at our first ever Country concert next week. Yee Haw, Ya'll! Favorite song: Springsteen

planned a trip for some of my besties to come visit me in June! There's a lot of shopping, eating, exploring and hiking to be done!

watched Fixer Upper and am sad that the season just ended. Episode 2 and Episode 4 are my favorites! Who am I kidding? I loved every episode!

purchased tickets to The Vintage Whites Market in Denver tomorrow! Pics to come.

regretted not going skiing this month, but happy that the saved money will go towards a camper this summer. Yellowstone here we come!

treated myself to this yummy Jane Austen t-shirt tonight! Just because . . . (watch all 2 minutes of this clip). You're welcome. Now, go treat yo' self!

Hello, New Year!

I can't believe I'm standing at the precipice of another new year. I spent 2016 adjusting to our new home out West, so for me, this new year means that I can finally relax a bit and simply enjoy this new place I call home.

Our family ended 2016 with a trip to Keystone for our first lesson in skiing. It was so wonderful to be able to take a break from work, school, and the increasingly busy holidays to enjoy time together as a family. As my 9-year old expressed numerous times leading up to our vacation, "No one should be expected to learn anything this close to Christmas." It's kind of hard to argue with that! We all needed a break!

I surprised everyone (myself included) with how quick I picked up skiing. My impressive first attempts didn't amount to much once my two boys were added to the mix. We were like the Three Stooges getting on and off the ski lift. Andrew survived frost nip (he thought it would be a good idea to eat frozen yogurt without gloves during Winter Storm Decima). And I got separated from Zach for two hours on our first 4 mile trail attempt. Let's just say that there were both good times and bad times had by all.

I blinked and here it is...2017! I admit that I've started the year off slowly. My Christmas decorations are still up – I'm milking it for all its got! And I refuse to make resolutions that won't be kept. Instead, I resolve to take pleasure in the small things, to foster deeper relationships, and to be thankful for this life I've been given. Here's to peace in 2017, ya'll!
